We're Serious About Security
We're serious about security, and we've gone to great lengths to ensure your
personal information is safe and secure. As a result, we're proud to say we've
conducted well over three thousand online orders since
early 2000, without any problems whatsoever.
Our security covers two areas -- the transaction itself, and
your details afterwards.
The transaction itself is completely encrypted using 128-bit SSL encryption
and HTTPS technology. Let's take a look at what that means, and how it keeps
your personal details safe.
What is SSL?
Recent advances in internet browser/server technology have made it easy for
people to use Web services without worrying about electronic fraud. Two examples
are Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) developed by Netscape, and Secure Hypertext Transfer
Protocol (S-HTTP) developed by Terisa Systems, Inc.
These protocols allow your browser and our server to authenticate each another,
and send encrypted (scrambled) information back and forth. When you reach a
secure page on our website, the information has been encrypted (scrambled) by
our server, and decrypted (unscrambled) by yours.
When you enter sensitive information (such as your credit card details), it's
encrypted before it ever leaves your screen. Anyone attempting to eavesdrop
sees nothing but scrambled jibberish characters. Our secure servers use 128-bit
encryption (the highest standard available today), which is widely used by banks
and security firms around the globe. This technology has proven impenetrable.
How to Know if Your Information's
Secure
When you visit the Embryo Films Store, the first thing you'll notice is the
Comodo Secure Site seal in the upper right-hand box. When you hover your mouse
over that image, information will pop up, indicating that this site is indeed
the site we have registered with Comodo.
We have included the seal on every page of the Embryo Films Store. The heading
at the top of that box will say "Comodo Security" when you are NOT
on a secure page. When you go to a secure page (such as the Login page, or the
Checkout pages), the heading will read ":: NOW SECURE ::"
Additionally, your browser will tell you if your connection is secure.
- Notice the address bar at the top of your browser. On this page, the address
begins with http:// -- this indicates a normal web page.
When you go to a secure page, the address will begin with
https://
http://store.embryo-films.com/security.php
https://store.embryo-films.com/login.php
The image of a lock will
appear in the bottom bar of your browser. (The image will look different on
different browsers.)
Security During the Transaction
Every step of the ordering proces, and every step of all areas that deal with
personally sensitive information are on secure, encrypted pages. When you confirm
your order, that information travels by a secure connection to eWay, our credit
card processing company.
eWay
is one of Australia's most secure and respected credit card processing companies,
and has direct links through St.
George Bank's processing facility. The strength and security of
eWay and St George are undisputed, and are among Australia's largest credit
card processing facilities.
When your order has been successfully processed, a confirmation email will
be sent to you, with the credit card details hidden from view. That way, you'll
never have to worry about revealing your information.
Security After the Transaction
One area in which many online merchants are still lacking is after the transaction.
What happens to your information when you're done? You don't want personally
revealing information to be out of your control, do you?
Of course not. And we know it. That's why we ensure the security of your details
even after your order.
Firstly, when your order is completed, your information is stored in an encrypted
database on a secure area of our website. It's not accessible from anyone other
than us, and even if it were, it's indecipherable without our keys.
After your order has been successfully fulfilled, your credit card details
are deleted. We simply do not retain that information. We clear out orders daily,
and on doing so, we remove this sensitive information.
We keep your contact information in our database to make future ordering easier
(see the Privacy page for more information
on what we keep and what we discard), and you are free to log in and change
that information at any time.
We welcome any questions on the issue. Just visit the contact page! |
